Water Pumping Lead Hands

Big Bear Energy Services Water Pumping IconOur Water Pumping Lead Hands are responsible for safely operating equipment to rig in and out hose lines for water transfers. The Lead Hand operates and maintains water pumps and related water transfer equipment, tests line connections, and documents water flow readings. The Water Transfer Lead Hand will be responsible for overseeing 2-3 people, as well as maintaining the rig-in of jobs for on lease transfers, load/unload etc. Lead Hands who excel in supervision may also be selected to supervise night shifts in conjunction with a Superintendent working on the day shift.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for equipment assigned to the water transfer job
  • Follow instructions provided by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent
  • Rig in and out lines required for water transfer
  • Responsible for relevant daily job communications and documentation
  • Monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure equipment is operating properly
  • Maintain equipment and perform daily inspections to ensure compliance with operational and safety requirements, reporting all abnormalities as required
  • Implement workflow as per the direction of the Water Pumping Supervisor

  • Experience in water surface line transfers and frac transfers
  • Experience with filtration units, and pump & hose installation
  • Strong knowledge of the Oil & Gas Industry
  • Able to control operations of equipment or systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Mechanical and Electrical knowledge
  • Safety oriented: Able to work safely and correct any unsafe behaviors of others
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Organized with the ability to read operating schedules and instructions
  • Able to lead in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Effective time management skills
  • Experience working in the Oil & Gas Industry
  • 1-2 years in water transfer experience preferred
  • Able to work on a rotating schedule: days or nights
  • Must be able to successfully pass drug and alcohol test, and company road test; if required
